Daytime highs will be knocked back significantly this week for a number of regions that last week saw highs in the 30s.
With winds taking a more easterly flow for those right up the east coast daytime highs will be down as much as 15 degrees for some.
Gisborne, Wairoa, Napier, Hastings, Christchurch, Ashburton and Timaru will mostly make the mid to late teens this week, with a few days reaching the low 20s.
A far cry from last week when many of these centres hit the 30 degree mark.
Other areas that also felt the heat, such as Masterton, Blenheim and Alexandra may also be down several degrees.
However other areas in the west of the North Island may still feel the heat.
Auckland, Bay of Plenty and Central Plateau will be in the low to mid 20s.
