A northwesterly airflow continues to lie over New Zealand tonight and this means warmer than normal temperatures for most, some inland spots sit around average. Tonight’s warmest lows go to Auckland and Northland on 14 degrees, the coldest lows will be about Central Otago through to the Mackenzie Country getting down to between 4 and 2 degrees.
Still warmer than normal once again for most on Friday with northwesterlies again, a southwest airflow does develop about the far south however and this brings a cool day for Southland and parts of Otago. The warmest highs will likely be about Canterbury up through to Gisborne in the east getting into the early twenties. Invercargill picks up the days coolest high on 10 degrees.
Being spring, the warm conditions we are currently experiencing can well and truly change. This is especially true on Monday next week when very cold southwesterlies move in.
