Plenty of cloud cover for coastal parts of the South Island on Tuesday, sun will break through for a time in the afternoon but it’s about inland areas where sun should hang around for a longer amount of time. This is shown in the map below with inland parts of the South Island warmer than normal tomorrow. For the North Island temperatures are just warmer than average for most but there will be plenty of cloud cover due to a slow moving front. North of Auckland sun will likely be about and this brings warm temperatures to Northland. While skies are fairly cloudy in the east cloud should thin out in the afternoon bringing a lift in temperatures for the likes of Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
Fairly warm relatively speaking and no major issues for the North Island on Tuesday night re cold overnight lows. The South Island is slightly different, cloud breaking in the west and south overnight brings cool or perhaps cold overnight temperatures. While parts of the Main Divide may dip to 0 or just below this usually isn’t a worry in this part of the country as not many if any people / growers are there, but about inland western Southland and into the Southern Lakes area there may be a few growers in these parts, lows of 0 to -1 are possible by dawn on Wednesday in sheltered spots where skies are clear and winds are light.
