Temperatures slightly warmer than normal start to move back into the South Island today, especially in the east. The North Island is still a bit cold due to a southerly airflow but this will ease. Temperatures in the mid to high teens for most of the North Island however Gisborne and the Central Plateau sees temperatures staying in the low double figure arena. Highs in the mid teens for most of the South Island.
Colder than normal overnight lows for most regions around New Zealand tonight, light frosts are likely about inland parts of both Islands (mainly about mountainous areas). Overnight low temperatures for various centers can be seen in the numerical figures shown on the map below.
