Nothing overly exciting with today’s temperatures but day time highs will be a bit warmer than average for some spots as can be seen in the map below, so that’s at least something to be happy about. Certainly cold in the mornings for some areas though, especially in Canterbury where I’m writing from but then that can be expected from time to time now as we are in winter after all.
A ridge brings cold overnight lows to many parts of the country tonight, frosts likely by dawn tomorrow for many inland areas and about Canterbury and Marlborough in the east. Southland gets a slight west to northwest kick so lows a touch above average for the time of year.
