A cool southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today.

Still quite cold for most of New Zealand today in a southwesterly airflow. Average temperatures for the time of year for Northland, Auckland and coastal parts around to Gisborne in the northeast. Nelson should have a nice day also. The warmest spot today will be Northland with temperatures peaking between 19 to 20 degrees.

Fairly cool overnight for the South Island tonight (map below) but not looking too bad further north with average overnight lows for most. The coldest overnight lows will likely be about Central Otago dropping down to between 2 to 5 degrees.
