A strong cold southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today.

As the map below suggests it’s quite cold for most of New Zealand today, just Northland and a few coastal parts of the West Coast look to have average temperatures for the time of year.

A similar story for overnight tonight with quite cold temperatures expected. Just parts of Auckland / Waikato hover around normal.
