A westerly airflow lies over New Zealand today, generally speaking warmer conditions in the east and a little cooler in the west.
Average to warm day time high temperatures for most of the North Island today. Northland, Auckland, Hawkes Bay and Gisborne are the warmest spots on 19 to 20 degrees. Fairly average for the South Island although getting a little warmer than normal once you move to the eastern coastal fringe for Canterbury and Marlborough.
Getting a bit cool overnight tonight due to an anticyclone covering most of New Zealand, the coolest spots will likely be the inner South Island getting down to between 2 and 3 degrees by dawn on Tuesday, especially just east of the main divide. The warmest overnight low is Kaitaia on 14.
