An easterly quarter airflow lies over New Zealand today dragging in cloud / drizzle and cooler than average temperatures for eastern regions. Warmer than average temperatures in the west. The highest temperatures today will be about Auckland / Northland around 17 to 18 degrees.
Clear skies about the far south bring cold overnight lows tonight about Central Otago, frosts likely by dawn on Thursday. Average to warmer than average for the North Island, cloud and rain bring warmer than average overnight lows about Waikato and Bay Of Plenty.
