A cool southerly airflow lies over New Zealand tonight, this will bring a chill in the air but frosts should keep away for the majority. About the far south (i.e. Southland and inland Otago) temperatures will get cold getting down to 0 or perhaps -1 in spots.
A southeasterly airflow keeps eastern regions cooler than average on Thursday as can be clearly seen in the map below. Average to slightly above average temperatures in the west although this may cool down a touch once some cloud starts to build in the afternoon.
