A ridge of high pressure brings cold overnight temperatures for the North Island tonight. Light frosts are likely Waikato southwards where winds are light and skies clear, generally away from the coast more inland. Cloud and / or a few showers prevents temperatures dropping too low about most of the South Island, about the far south clearing skies early tomorrow morning brings a drop in temperatures around dawn before the day kicks in. Lows may hit 1 or perhaps 0 about Southland.
Cooler than average for most eastern regions on Saturday, morning southerlies tend to the east in the afternoon. Looking a little more promising in the west but temperatures won’t be overly warmer than normal. My place to be would be the upper North Island, winds should be light and skies sunny.
