The above title is in reference to eastern New Zealand which will experience cold southerly winds tonight, the fact there will be some breeze and cloud cover means frosts are kept at bay, for most. About the far south of the South Island skies clear before dawn on Friday and this leads to frosty conditions developing, lows of -2 to -3 degrees are possible.
Friday certainly is a bit chilly in the east due to cold southerlies, western regions fair better. South Westland would have to be my pick of the bunch tomorrow, while temperatures may not be as warm as Northland skies will be clear and winds light. In saying that Kaitaia gets the warmest high once again around 16 degrees, the coldest day time highs goes to the eastern South Island on 7 to 8 degrees.
