Sunny in the north, sunny in the south – Situation & outlook for your Saturday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Both islands are looking great for Saturday (if you’re not hoping for rain, that is) with sun, light winds and a bit of scattered high cloud. Pretty much a repeat of today really – as the anticyclone that has been sitting over the country will continue…

South Island

It’s going to be sunny with light winds in the morning – with just a few afternoon sea breezes on the coast for pretty much everyone.
In Southland and Otago, and up to Canterbury, there will be some morning cloud – but this should clear away, and won’t ruin an otherwise fine day.

North Island

Everywhere except the Far North is looking at a similar story to the South Island – light winds in the morning and afternoon sea breezes, otherwise sunny everywhere.

For the Waikato and Central North Island, winds will stay light through the day and lead to some blistering temperatures in the afternoon, after morning cloud clears.
The Waikato and Bay of Plenty could see a passing drizzle patch in the morning – though nothing more than that.

Northland is the only region throwing something out a little different, with easterlies there for much of the day with sunny areas, and a few clouds from time to time.
