Sunny but cool – The Big Picture on Tuesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A high pressure system sits over most of New Zealand, though the main centre of this high is out in the Tasman Sea – and an easterly airflow sits over Northland and Auckland.

It’s looking mainly sunny across most parts of New Zealand, though cloud sticks around for the likes of Gisborne, Auckland and Northland – with patches of sun coming through.

Temperatures for the South Island sit between 15 to 20 degrees.
Slightly cooler temperatures dominate near coastal areas, with the coolest conditions in Southland and coastal Otago.
Warmer highs dominate inland, with the warmest areas around Central Otago, Mackenzie Country and inland Buller – where highs in the low 20s are possible.

The North Island is a bit warmer, temperatures in the low to mid 20s for most.
The East Coast – from Gisborne to the Wairarapa and perhaps Wellington – will sit in the high teens or low 20s.
