While the rest of New Zealand is winding down from a cold southwesterly airflow today, the West coast rejoices in brilliant sunshine with light winds. Temperatures are up into the high teens. Nelson is quite good also, southwesterlies will tend to the north this afternoon there.
The upper North Island has some pretty good weather to it must be said, temperatures in the late teens or perhaps hitting 20. There is a few clouds though and winds may be a little breezy from the southwest.
Southwesterlies are still clobbering the eastern South Island right on the coast, Christchurch has 35 km/h southwesterlies at the moment gusting 48 km/h. Kaikoura lifts the bar to 54 km/h southwesterlies gusting 70 km/h.
