Sunday’s national forecast – Sub-tropical low weakens, high pressure builds

A sub-tropical low is today weakening to the north east of the North Island. Rain around it will ease and clouds will slowly start to break up / thin out across today.

In the South Island high pressure remains, with the centre of the high still out in the Tasman Sea.

North Island:
Rain and showers around East Cape, Gisborne and parts of Hawke’s Bay today, patchy and easing later. May be a heavy fall north of Gisborne. Dry or becoming dry elsewhere with cloudy areas breaking up. Winds from the south to south east for most.
Highs: 16 to 22

South Island:
Mostly settled and dry, fairly sunny especially inland. Chance of a few afternoon cloud build ups around the ranges.
Highs: 16 to 25
