Low pressure crosses the North Island today with patchy rain and showers, then cooler drier air behind it. The South Island sees a mostly cool and dry day.
NORTH ISLAND:
Patchy rain spreads across the island today. It’s not very widespread but rain or showers should affect a number of regions for time, although the very north and very south of the island look to be the driest today with lowest rainfall totals. Much of the rain will be light to moderate with a few isolated downpours. Cooler air moving in across today and tonight.
Highs: 7 to 16
SOUTH ISLAND:
A cool and mainly dry day across the South Island today. Some wind and cloud through Cook Strait and maybe the chance of a shower there. Southland has some coastal cloud with maybe a shower around Stewart Island. Dry and sunny elsewhere.
Highs: 4 to 14
