High pressure dominates the South Island today while the sub-tropics return to northern New Zealand with late showers or downpours ahead of a wetter Monday. 

Light winds for most places today but some coastal areas may be a bit windier.

North Island:
Cloudy areas increasing with downpours developing inland and around Northland. North to north east winds developing. Humid.
Highs: 23 to 28 ‘

South Island:
Mostly calm with afternoon downpours forming inland. Becoming cloudy later for a number of areas.
Highs: 20 to 30
