Sunday’s national forecast – A southerly flow kicking in for most

The sub-tropical low is no longer sub-tropical, as it tracks east of Gisborne today and continues to track SE away from the country.

To the west a very large high pressure system is rolling in.

North Island:
Winds from the southerly quarter with cloud and showers most likely in the south and east – wettest weather around Gisborne area though.
Highs: 14 to 19 (warmest in the north, coolest in the south).

South Island:
Light winds or light southerly quarter winds. A cool start but a mostly dry day. A few isolated showers possible in the east and around the ranges. Sunniest weather likely in the west.
Highs: 12 to 18 (warmest in the north, coolest in the south).
