Upper North Island

Mostly sunny with increasing high cloud from this morning, light winds at first and afternoon sea breezes. Cloud thickens up later this evening.

Lower North Island

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud from afternoon, west to northwesterly winds may be a bit breezy at times. Wellington can expect strong northerly winds. Warm temperatures on the east coast.

Upper South Island

Cloudy in the west with northwesterly winds, the odd shower develops this morning then some rain later in the evening. High cloud in the east with northwesterly breezes and warm afternoon
temperatures, a few spots of morning rain possible at first in Canterbury then
in Marlborough. A southerly wind change moves into Canterbury in the evening
reaching North Canterbury around midnight, this brings some cloud and the risk
of a shower or two.

Lower South Island

Rain about Fiordland this morning slowly moves north, clearing Haast around midnight as northwesterly
winds change southwest. Sunny areas and high cloud in the east with brisk WSW
winds about Southland and Otago, some morning rain about Central Otago clears.
In the afternoon southerlies push into coastal Otago bringing some cloud and the
odd shower which clears by evening.
