Upper North Island

Mostly sunny with light winds and afternoon sea breezes, some cloud builds up during the afternoon also then clearing away later in the evening.

Lower North Island

Drizzle about Gisborne clears this morning, sunny spells develop in the afternoon with southeasterly breezes easing. Mostly sunny elsewhere with northeasterlies along the remainder of the east coast and westerly quarter winds in the west. Wellington has mostly sunny weather and brisk northerly winds this afternoon. Some cloud builds up during the afternoon about the ranges of Hawkes Bay and the Central North Island bringing the low risk of an isolated shower.

Upper South Island

Mostly sunny in the north and east with light winds and afternoon sea breezes, some morning cloud about Canterbury north of Banks Peninsula clears. Some high cloud about Canterbury during the day too. Along the West Coast sunny spells at first, a few clouds drift in from afternoon with light westerlies.

Lower South Island

Mostly sunny with west to northwest breezes, high cloud also. Along the east coast winds tend northeast. Cloudy about Fiordland with northerlies and drizzle. High cloud thickens late afternoon then in the evening winds change southerly about Southland with some rain developing, rain pushes into Otago overnight.
