Upper North Island

Mostly cloudy skies with westerlies for although expect north to northeasterly breezes along eastern coastlines.

Lower North Island

Sunny areas and northeasterly winds along the east coast, plenty of high cloud. About inland Hawkes Bay, late afternoon and evening there may be a few isolated showers one or two of which could be heavy. In the west expect cloudy spells with westerly winds, morning showers clear. About the Central Plateau, inland Taranaki and inland parts of the Manawatu isolated showers develop late afternoon and evening a few of which may be heavy then clearing by midnight. Wellington could see an early shower then sunny spells develop in the afternoon as southerlies tend northerly.

Upper South Island

Sunny and cloudy spells in the west with light westerly winds, chance of a light shower about the ranges during the day otherwise mainly dry. Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells in the east, afternoon sea breezes. About inland Marlborough there may be a late afternoon isolated shower, there is a greater chance of late afternoon and evening isolated showers about the ranges of Mid Canterbury through to the Mackenzie Country. One or two of these showers could be heavy with the low risk of a thunderstorm.

Lower South Island

Sunny and cloudy spells in the west with light west to southwest breezes. Mainly sunny elsewhere with light winds, afternoon sea breezes about coastal areas. Cloud may be a bit more frequent about coastal Otago during the day, inland parts of North Otago could see late afternoon and evening isolated showers before clearing by midnight.
