Upper North Island

Sunny with some cloud after early morning cloud breaks up in inland areas, west to southwest breezes picking up a little during the afternoon. Expect mostly sunny conditions for the Bay Of Plenty with northerlies there in the afternoon. Eastern parts of Northland will likely see a sea breeze in the afternoon also.

Lower North Island

Sunny and cloudy spells in the west with westerly winds, a little breezy at times. Further inland expect winds to be lighter and sunny areas longer. On the east coast expect sunny skies and afternoon sea breezes. Wellington sees mostly sunny conditions and northerly winds.

Upper South Island

Sunny spells and some cloud on the West Coast north of Haast with southwesterly breezes. Sunny elsewhere with afternoon sea breezes for coastal areas, lighter winds inland . Expect northwesterlies for the Southern Alps region.

Lower South Island

Warm out east and for Southland with some high cloud and breezy northwesterly winds. Cloudy spells south of Haast on the West Coast with drizzle patches about Fiordland, winds from the north or northwest. Rain moves into Fiordland overnight.
