it’s not the brightest day for almost three quarters of the country today and holidaymakers could be cursing if they’re not prepared for rain and windy conditions.

An active frontal system is set to cross the country today but should have cleared most areas by tomorrow morning.

MetService have issued rain warning for western areas of the South Island and some rain is also likely over western and northern parts ofthe North Island however the warning criteria has not been reached at this point in time.

Spillover rain could also reach eastern areas from Gisborne to Masterton this afternoon however it should be mostly scattered but heavy at times about the ranges.

A sou’ west wind change is likely to flick over eastern areas of the Mainland and a few showers could also be in the mix with a drop in temperature likely.
