High pressure remains over the North Island today, but only just, with the anticyclone centred well north east of the Chatham Islands.
This set up allows a much warmer sub-tropical airflow down over many places, as far south as the upper South Island where it merges with a windy nor’wester thanks to that cold front moving up the West Coast (and falling apart tonight).
Cooler airflows move in to the lower South Island for a time today and tomorrow for others.
