High pressure continues to push over the South Island while a sou’east wind flow continues over the North Island.

NORTH ISLAND:
Rain and showers increasing along the southern and eastern coastlines. Wellington, Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay look especially wet as the day goes on. Elsewhere there may be a few showers otherwise fairly dry, but a higher risk for some wet weather as the day wears on. Winds mostly from the S to SE but some may have a SWer later on in the north.
Highs: 16 – 18

SOUTH ISLAND:
Some heavy rain around Kaikoura and spilling over into Marlborough and maybe even Nelson. Rain falls as far south as about Christchurch and Banks Peninsula gradually becoming lighter and drizzly and then mainly dry the further south you go. Coastal breezes for many and calm through Central Otago. Sunniest on the West Coast, Otago and parts of Southland.
Highs: 14 to 18
