More high pressure across NZ today although it does start to slip away from the South Island, allowing a windier W to SW change to move up the country.

Rain falls on the West Coast with heavy falls further south and a few showers / some spillover rain will move into parts of Southland, western Otago and around the ranges of Canterbury westwards.

Most of New Zealand is warmer than average today – or about normal for this time of year.

The centre of the high still lies over Northland.
