High pressure controls New Zealand’s weather today, centred to the east of the South Island. This more southern placement continues the easterly flow in northern NZ.

NORTH ISLAND:
Light winds today with cloudy areas. There may be a light shower in the coastal east, otherwise mainly dry. Also an afternoon downpour is quite possible in Waikato.
Highs: 18 to 30 (hottest weather inland and to the est, coolest weather in the south and east).

SOUTH ISLAND:
Light winds and mainly dry today. Might be a shower on the upper West Coast or upper South Island.
Highs: 17 to 27 (hottest weather through Central Otago)
