Upper North Island

Mainly sunny weather after any morning cloud clears, light winds then afternoon sea breezes.

Lower North Island

Mainly sunny in the west with breezy west to northwesterly winds, sunny along the east coast with hot afternoon temperatures. Wellington has a mix of sun and cloud with gusty northerlies.

Upper South Island

Mainly sunny about Nelson and Marlborough with some developing high cloud, northwesterly winds. Cloud thickens on the West Coast, rain about Fiordland spreads northwards reaching Buller in the evening however it does weaken during the day. Canterbury has some high cloud and northwesterly winds, an evening southerly change may bring a brief shower or two.

Lower South Island

High cloud, gusty northwesterlies change southwest around midday bringing a few showers which then clear by late afternoon. Cloud breaks later in the day with winds easing.
