Upper North Island

Showers, some may be heavy mainly about the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty then easing this afternoon, southwesterly winds freshen.

Lower North Island

Cloudy areas and the odd shower, rain about the Wellington region and the Wairarapa with heavy falls, easing this evening to showers. Winds gusty from the south. Hawkes Bay and Gisborne fairly dry then showers move in late afternoon / evening as southerlies freshen.

Upper South Island

Rain or showers about Nelson / Marlborough mostly clearing this afternoon although the odd shower may remain till evening. The West Coast is mainly sunny, some high cloud possible about North Westland. Canterbury is mainly cloudy, there may be a drizzle patch or two mainly inland about South and Mid Canterbury. Light southerlies tend easterly in the afternoon, especially near the coast.

Lower South Island

Mostly cloudy with the odd light shower, mostly clearing this evening. Winds light, mostly from the south.
