Upper North Island

Cloudy with rain developing this morning then easing this afternoon as northwesterly winds change southwest. Showers mostly clearing this evening but the odd one may remain.

Lower North Island

Rain this morning in the west, mostly clearing by midday as west to northwest winds change southerly. A few sunny areas from afternoon. Southerlies push northwards along the east coast bringing showers which clear late afternoon or evening. Expect high cloud before southerlies move in.

Upper South Island

Any morning cloud / showers about Canterbury through to Nelson clearing then becoming mostly sunny, winds are mainly light although westerlies picking up about Canterbury by evening. The West Coast sees some sun this morning then cloud thickens from afternoon with showers pushing in by evening, Fiordland is fairly cloudy with showers for much of the day turning to rain for a time this afternoon.

Lower South Island

Sunny areas for most with showers about coastal Southland and about the likes of Queenstown westwards, showers spreading elsewhere in the evening. Gusty westerly winds strong at times especially about the Southland and Otago coastlines, in the evening winds tend a little more southwest reaching gale at times about the coast.
