Upper North Island

Mostly sunny weather with east to northeast winds for most, about western Waikato winds are from the west. Some high cloud.

Lower North Island

Mostly sunny conditions but expect some high cloud, westerly winds in the west and east to northeast winds in the east. Breezy north to northwesterly winds about Wellington with cloudy areas.

Upper South Island

Cloudy in the west with showers at times south of about Westport, plenty of high cloud elsewhere with a few spots of rain possible about Canterbury during the day. North to northwesterly winds.

Lower South Island

Heavy rain for the southern half of the West Coast ease by midday, northwesterly winds. Out east expect morning spots or spells of rain then clearing, plenty of thick high cloud. A few spots may return to some eastern areas late afternoon or evening. Light winds.
