Upper North Island

Morning rain eases to showers by midday, a few sunny areas breaking through. Chance of a heavy isolated shower or two in the afternoon then easing evening. Northerly winds tend northwest after midday and westerly in the evening.

Lower North Island

Mostly cloudy skies with patchy showers for most, northerly winds. Gusty southerlies develop about Wellington this afternoon then gradually spreading northwards bringing rain.

Upper South Island

Rain with a few heavy falls possible mainly about Nelson and Marlborough, southerly winds freshen this morning.

Lower South Island

Rain or showers for much of today about Southland and Otago, winds from the south or southwest. Mainly dry and sunny about South Westland with gusty southeasterly winds.

Has been lots of sunshine in West Auckland as sun rises. Apricot clouds floating about and plenty of blue sky at 7 AM All vanishing at 7:30AM
