Upper North Island

Cloudy areas and some occasional sun, chance of a shower or two during the day otherwise mainly dry. Westerly winds.

Lower North Island

Fairly cloudy skies in the west with a few showers about or perhaps some rain, westerly winds. Southerlies push into Wellington first thing this morning bringing showers which clear by evening. Showers develop about the Wairarapa this morning on a southerly wind change then pushing further north around midday, showers could be heavy about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne this afternoon then easing later in the evening.

Upper South Island

Areas of rain, clearing Canterbury this morning but perhaps not about Nelson / Marlborough till evening. Southerly winds tend east to northeast during the afternoon. Along the West Coast expect morning showers to clear then afternoon sunny areas, west to southwest winds.

Lower South Island

Sunny areas for most. About Southland and the Catlins expect cloudier skies and the odd shower during the day. Winds breezy from the west or southwest.
