Upper North Island

Mostly sunny for Northland. Auckland, Waikato and the Bay Of Plenty can expect mostly cloudy skies with patchy showers at times especially this afternoon. Winds generally from the west. The Central North Island has cloudy areas, chance of the odd shower about mainly in the north, westerly winds.

Lower North Island

Cloudy areas, some sun at times. Winds from the south or southeast. In the west from Taranaki to Kapiti any early cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather.

Upper South Island

Mostly cloudy skies with east to northeasterly winds, low cloud breaking in the evening for many although expect some high cloud at the end of the day. Nelson and Marlborough may see more frequent sunny areas during the day. On the West Coast expect cloudy areas and some sun, sun more likely more northwards into the likes of Buller, cloud thickens in the evening however for most with late drizzle.

Lower South Island

Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas about eastern Otago and coastal Southland, expect mostly sunny weather otherwise with high cloud moving in afternoon onwards. East to northeasterly winds. Areas of cloud on the West Coast with light winds tending northeasterly during the afternoon, drizzle by evening.
