Upper North Island
Lower North Island
Early rain in the west eases to the odd shower which mostly clears in the morning, sunny spells develop with west to northwest winds. Late afternoon / evening there may be an isolated shower or two however. Along the east coast morning rain eases to showers then clears with sunny areas increasing (rain doesn’t clear Gisborne northwards till early afternoon), late afternoon / evening isolated showers develop especially about the ranges then clear later. Mostly sunny about Wellington with light winds tending southerly in the afternoon, some late cloud.
Upper South Island
Mostly sunny in Nelson and about Marlborough with light winds, afternoon sea breezes. Marlborough could see isolated showers late afternoon / evening however then clearing. Cloudy periods in Canterbury with light winds tending southerly by midday, chance of a light shower or two about the place especially afternoon in inland areas. Morning showers ease on the West Coast becoming few and far between, cloud breaks to a few sunny spells in the afternoon with light west to southwest winds.
Lower South Island
About Southland and Otago expect cloudy periods with southerly quarter winds, tending easterly about the Otago coast late afternoon / evening. The odd shower possible mainly late afternoon / evening inland. Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells along the West Coast south of the Glaciers with west to southwest winds.
