Upper North Island

Sunny areas and increasing cloud, northwesterlies
freshen from afternoon. About Northland and the Bay Of Plenty conditions will likely be quite sunny in the morning with cloud not increasing in these regions till late afternoon or evening.

Lower North Island
 

Becoming mostly cloudy by midday, northwesterlies freshen. Chance of a spit of rain at times from midday otherwise dry. Along the east coast expect warm temperatures and some developing high cloud, northwesterly winds. Mostly cloudy about Wellington with strengthening northwesterlies, some rain later in the evening.

Upper South Island

Rain along the West Coast eases to showers in the afternoon as northwesterlies change southwest. Cloud increases about Nelson with freshening northwesterlies, brief spits of rain possible at times from midday otherwise mainly dry. Warm along the east coast with breezy northwesterlies and high cloud, a southwest change moves into Canterbury late afternoon with showers.

Lower South Island

Southwesterlies freshen in the morning about Southland and Otago bringing showers which ease in the evening becoming few and far between, cold temperatures. Morning rain about Fiordland then coming out sunny in the afternoon as southerlies freshen.
