A large low slowly swirling off the North Island’s north east coast today is going to bring wet, windy or cold weather to many parts of the country this weekend.
Rain is likely to be heavy from Gisborne to Wellington and possible the ranges around Kaikoura as a wet south to south east wind kicks in, fed by sub-tropical moisture. But despite the sub-tropical origins the southerly isn’t going to bring much heat with many centres only expected to make 15 this weekend.
The West Coast will most likely be sunny and hot as will much of the North Island’s west coast with highs in the mid 20s expected.
Auckland should see a mix of sun, cloudy and fairly strong south easterlies while Wellington is predicted to have rain and gales.
Christchurch will see cold weather arriving on Saturday where temperatures may only just make it into the teens.
