Sub zero temps in both islands – #WeatherRisks on Thursday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

As far as weather risks go, today is looking clear of pretty much everything – with one exception.

Right now, Alexandra, Queenstown and Wanaka are all in the negatives – an extremely frosty start to the day for those in the inland South Island!
Alexandra is sitting at -4.5C, while Queenstown and Wanaka are both around -1C.

In the North Island, inland parts are also feeling the chill – with Palmerston North and Levin both sitting in the negatives as of 7am.

With a large, settled high pressure system sitting over us, the cold night air doesn’t get blown away – especially in sheltered areas – so we see temperatures like this in the mornings and overnight at times!
