A low moves off to the east of the country today gradually taking unsettled weather with it, Tuesday sees a more settled pattern however overnight a northwesterly airflow increases over the South Island then on Wednesday a front sweeps northwards over New Zealand bringing in a cold change.
Monday
Blue – Heavy rain about North Westland eases early this morning.
Purple – Strong westerly quarter winds for many coastal parts of the country today gusting to gale at times ease this evening.
Tuesday
Blue – Heavy rain moves onto the West Coast of the South Island overnight.
Purple – Strong southwesterlies develop about the lower South Island overnight, especially near the coast.
Wednesday
Blue – Heavy rain about North Westland eases in the morning.
Purple – Strong southwesterly winds gusting to gale at times about coastal areas start about the lower South Island in the morning then reach the upper North Island by evening. Strong northwesterly winds through Cook Strait ease late afternoon / evening as winds change southerly.
