Locals are reporting what felt like the strongest earthquake since Saturday’s 7.1 quake.
GeoNet reports the earthquake was very shallow, at a depth of just 6 kms and measured 5.1 on the richter scale.
Traffic lights are out in some areas.
GeoNet expects some minor damage from the quake.
“Chch Mayor Bob Parker just issued statement after aftershocks: Don’t panic, avoid travelling, stay with family. Some traffic lights out” reports NZHerald’s twitter account

…well, for most residents of Christchurch, it was either the second biggest hit since the 7.1 Saturday, OR someone drove their front end loader into the side of their house…..this may well have been the ‘straw that broke the camel’s back’ for many locals who have simply had a guts… and are getting out, from reports just coming out!
I am weighing my options . . . but thankfully still have power so can boil water ( hygiene is a big concern )…if you have no power ….you don’t have much option…we still have no water….thankfully I have access to a sulphur smelling water supply!
..time for cup ‘o tea!
