Still slightly cooler but heat coming back

WeatherWatch.co.nz

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It’s not exactly hot out there – at least for most of the country – but the heat is slowly returning after the weekend’s cooler change.

As of 11am most places in the North Island were around the 20 to 22 degree mark, except Napier on 24 and the Wellington region around 19.  A northerly wind has picked up around Wellington but nothing severe is expected.

In the South Island that northerly flow continues with Timaru and Oamaru already in the mid 20s but most other regions are in the late teens or around 20.

Plenty of cloud cover over much of New Zealand too but very little in the way of rain just a few drops on the West Coast.

Plenty of sunshine out in Kaiapoi and up to 26C as of 12:40pm.
Winds are variable between NE and SW at times, must have been influenced from the brief rain south of Christchurch last night.

Skies are clearing all the time here and up to 28 degrees in my part of Christchurch with a very gentle NNE at present.
