Will it be safe to undertake this journey or should I stay in ChCh.

Hi there what do you think the chances are of a flight getting into Dunedin about 9pm on sunday are? Is it likely the airport will be closed? If not the airport what do you think about the road?

Cheers

Hey. Is it going to snow in Christchurch this time as well? Will it be as heavy as the last July snow? Thanks

Understand blizzard conditions mean very high winds with snow. Can you advise where these are likely to be and what is the estimated wind strength?

WW Forecast Team on 12/08/2011 10:14pm

Hi there – winds will be averaging 40 to 60km/h (60 is gale force) with gusts up to 100km/h maybe higher.  Winds will kick in on Sunday and peak Monday and Tuesday.

Hi, you haven’t mentioned Wanaka at all, we are due to fly there on Sunday mid afternoon, should this be possible? Are you anticipating snow in Wanaka/Cardrona? Thanks, you are providing a great service 🙂

With the giant high stretching from deep south to the tropics, is NZ likely to experience the other extreme – a blast of hot moist air when we get through to the other side?

WW Forecast Team on 12/08/2011 8:23pm

Hi Bill,

Not much heat expected for some time.

Thanks.
