Snow as well as rain is causing more problems in Oamaru this morning.

State Highway 1 to the south of the town has been closed again and the Lindis Pass is also closed. Travellers are being asked to stay at home if they can as there is also widespread surface flooding and hazards caused by pot holes, debris and missing road covers.

Civil Defence is telling Waitaki residents who still need help or who are isolated to call 0800 108 081.

Rural water supply users should conserve water as heavy rain has compromised quality. Local schools are expected to be open today.
