Snow and heavy rain for parts of South Island

A severe weather warning is in place for the West Coast of the South Islan

The government’s forecaster is warning heavy rain is spreading into the Westland Ranges from the glaciers to Otira today. The weather front is moving north with a burst of heavy rain expected in the Nelson area tomorrow.

There are also snowfall warnings for the Arthur’s and Porters Passes from dinnertime tonight.
