Slippery when wet – Monday’s weather risks

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Today any risks will be shower related – with possible heavy falls and maybe even some thunderstorms.

North Island

From South Auckland down through to the ranges of Wairarapa, there appears to be a risk of showers this afternoon, continuing through to the evnening, some of which could become heavy with thunderstorms.

A risk of heavier, possibly thundery weather runs right down along the west of the North Island.
On the other side, the Bay of Plenty, East Cape and down through to Hawkes Bay, the instability isn’t there as much – meaning less of a risk.

South Island

The other area that could see heavy showers is the upper South Island, from Mid Canterbury inland northwards.
Buller seems the best bet for heavy showers and possible thunderstorms, but North Canterbury and inland Marlborough and Nelson has a chance too.

Isolated showers are also possible about other inland South Island areas, but there shouldn’t be any issues from those.
