We’ve seen some very warm nights this week, and that northerly airflow from the tropics continues to bring higher temperatures than usual for this time of year.

The frontal system which brought rain and flooding to parts of Wellington is weakening and moving north as we head into the weekend.

Friday

That now-weak front covers most of the lower North Island.

Light blue: Showers in much of the Central North Island, while cloud covers most of the rest of the island.

Dark blue: Rain and showers in Fiordland.

 

Saturday

That weak front continues across the lower North Island, becoming weaker still.

Grey: There’s the chance of morning fog in both Auckland and Waikato.

Light blue: Chance of showers in Fiordland and Southland.

 

Sunday

The high pressure over the country continues to diminish, and weather-wise there’s not too much going on.
There is a chance of morning fog again about inland parts of the North Island.

Grey: Fog in the centre of the North Island.

Light blue: Showers possible again in Fiordland and Southland.
