Frequent showers topped up rain water tanks and helped thirsty plants in the western Bay of Plenty overnight and this morning those showers have drifted over the Coromandel Peninsula.
Some of these showers are also spreading across Waiheke Island.
Despite ominous clouds over Auckland only a few drizzle patches and a couple of light showers have brushed the eastern part of the city.
WeatherWatch.co.nz predicts less than 1mm of rain will fall over Auckland today.
As we head into Tuesday afternoon the showers may brush the Hibiscus Coast and south eastern parts of Northland before the trough dries out and all showers clear.
Sunny spells are expected in Auckland later today.

yes, heavy showers in Whitford from about 5pm. Also drizzle all day in howick area!

There is some very heavy rain here close to Kaukapakapa.
