Had heavy rain this morning but seems to be easing. Surface flooding in Wainuiomata and news indicates it has happened in the rest of the Wellington area.
We had warnings of gales, but no severe watch or warning for heavy rain, even in the latest warning (it seems that anyway updates to warnings are not given before 9 a.m. even if it pours at 6!)

Was more than surface flooding, as you will have seen from the news.
Went into a shop in Wainuiomata about midday Sunday (long after the rain had stopped) and their carpet was soaked in a number of places.
