Severe Cat 4 Cyclone Debbie makes landfall in Queensland, now Cat 3

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Updated 6:48pm — Severe Category 4 Cyclone Debbie, which was close to Category 5 earlier, has now made landfall in eastern Australia says WeatherWatch.co.nz and has weakened to a Cat 3 storm.

The centre of Debbie moved right over Airlie Beach.

The storm will weaken but should remain a cyclone into Wednesday then lose her cyclone status later tomorrow. Tonight it will rapidly weaken in storm status but the flooding rains will remain.

As winds and sea conditions ease over the next 24 hours rain and flooding will became the next concern, especially inland.

Bowen radar has suffered damage as a result of TC Debbie. Please access Mackay radar for current radar images. Engineering staff will prioritise repairs when safe access can be gained.
A link for Mackay radar would be good!

Thank you Zelda,
We’ve upgraded the link to the Mackay radar as suggested. Appreciate the heads up as we track other things!
